Anna Paquin is a Canadian and New Zealand actress. Paquin who was born in Wellington but born and raised in Winnipeg was first seen in the acting world on screen in The Piano. At age 11 years old, she became one of the youngest Academy Award winner ever for Best Actress. Anna Paquin full name Anna Helene Paquin was born on July 24 in 1982 Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. Canadian-born New Zealand actor who won the Academy Award as a youngster as Best Supporting Actress playing the enthusiastic and curious child of Holly Hunter's lead part The Piano. The Piano. As a result of an audition Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter a Scottish piano player. Flora McGrath is the daughter of a muted Scottish musician who moved to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. In her teens she emigrated into the United States. Paquin played the lead role in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 and also had a small part as Jane Eyre as just a young child. Paquin was in the role of Frankie Addams, a character from Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997, she played the queen of Spain in a lesser role. The role she played was for teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). She also portrayed the teen groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on Almost Famous (2000).
