Anna Paquin is a Canadian and New Zealand actress. Paquin who was born in Wellington but born and raised in Winnipeg was first seen in the acting world on screen in The Piano. As a result of an audition Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter a Scottish piano player. Flora McGrath is the daughter of a muted Scottish musician who moved to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. In her teens she emigrated into the United States. Paquin played the lead role in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 and also had a small part as Jane Eyre as just a young child. Paquin was in the role of Frankie Addams, a character from Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997, she played the queen of Spain in a lesser role. The role she played was for teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000).
