April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. Ross is among only a handful of female beach volleyball players that have done so. She will be competing in Tokyo for her third Olympic medal alongside Alix Klineman, who is a first time Olympian. Ross aims to earn an Olympic first gold medal but she's also hoping for even more. It may well be that it is her last chance at winning, as she's 39 old. Nevertheless she is confident that top honors are firmly within reach. If we play our highest or play well I feel like we can get that gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. Also, it's a matter of chance. Ross was born August 22nd, 1982 at Costa Mesa California. She lived there along with her entire family. Ross played in numerous sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. She played basketball and ran track, in addition to her volleyball skills in the indoors as a pre-collegiate athlete. But she clearly was an edge over the other players in the latter sport. In her time at high school, she was a middle blocker outside setter and hitter at the tennis court per her bio at the college. The award was presented to her as one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999 due to her accomplishments. Also, she won the 1999 Orange County Athlete of the Award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are continuing to play from 2017. However, Ross played a significant role in the world of beach volleyball prior to the pair. She has had the chance to win numerous events, and one was won by the legendary player of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, from 2007 to the year 2013. Also, she coached Klineman as well as herself. Kessy's teammate Ross, who took home the title of world champion together with Kessy in 2009, was also significant on the international stage. They took home a Silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the group to beat out for gold. Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They went on to compete for the bronze beach volleyball medal at Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross was a college athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning starting her professional career. She played in high school and in some years before she hit the beach professionally. This was an impressive career for Ross in the college level. In her first year at the school, 2000 earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of the Award and also be named an All-American. She also helped the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. The Trojans were devastated by a tragic incident in her sophomore years, yet she managed to become an All-American once more. The two years following her, she took the Trojans to the top of the mountain and clinched consecutive national championships. Her individual achievements have cemented her status as a legend in volleyball. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the best female college player. Ross was a USC international relations student, was a volleyball star. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, never had the opportunity to see Ross' daughter blossom into a beach volleyball superstar. Ross suffered the loss of the breast cancer that she battled in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Her mother is still dear. Margie, on the beach as well as in everyday life, inspires her.
