Lee Roy Selmon's life is one of football scholarship, family work as well as community involvement. The first time Selmon was born with Lucious Semon and his wife Jessie, on the farm close to Eufala in Oklahoma as the eldest of the nine children they had. In football, he was alongside three brothers from Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the US. In the three years that Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975, and was named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy's fourth service included ten hours per week as a volunteer in college. After college, he moved in Tampa and played for nine years for Tampa's Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro three times. He then began his career. By 1988 he had become an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of Ten of America's top young males. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at the hefty 256 pounds at college when he was an athlete, was captain of his team for the year 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as the Associate Director of Sports. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
